System Engineer 5

Description:
We are seeking a System Engineer 5 to work as part of the “System Engineering as a Service” team.  Members of this team perform wide ranging System Engineering activities at the organization level and work with multiple projects to develop best practices and common System Engineering threads across related projects.  The selected SE5 will work with a team of End Users and System and Software Engineers to capture and triage requirements, design system architecture for analytics and applications developed from the organization’s customers to be integrated with the organization’s product portfolio, creating Systems Engineering designs and documentation and compliance documentation. The team uses the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) agile methodology to deliver value to the CNO mission.

  • Work performed in a contractor facility in Annapolis Junction.
Required Qualifications:
TS/SCI Polygraph
A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of general systems engineering experience (any Process Area).
OR
A Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.

*Note 1 – Examples of Qualified engineering fields include: Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management.
*Note 2 - Examples of related disciplines include: Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.

Preferred Qualifications:
Desired skills for this position include experience: working with leadership, customers, and software engineers, understanding of data science concepts, knowledge of systems integration concepts and software programming languages and an entrepreneurial spirit to bring new ideas to mission applications and market to the user community.
